Ok, you work in marketing and you're expected to have flashy images in your emails or ppt decks, right? But you're not a graphic designer so what do you do? Just SnagIt! Huh? SnagIt is a screen capture software that allows you to select and capture anything on your screen and share it with others to visually clarify difficult concepts, create clearer documentation, and give your presentations a professional, dynamic look. The best part? You don't need to be a tech-savy person to benefit from this tool since it's designed for your average computer user. In the office, I'm known as the "SnagIt" guy. You'd be amazed at how many people thank me regularly or share some sort of new SnagIt feature they recently discovered. If I was on Tech Smith's commission plan I'd be doing pretty well because I evangelize the heck out of this product. What You Can Do With SnagIt - Quickly grab images for powerpoint presentations - Share and explain things visually by email - Add effects or instructions to images - Capture an entire (scrolling) web page...with links kept intact - Save a capture in about 28 different file formats And these are just some of the things you can do with SnagIt. Yes, this is serious software and it's nearly free considering the quality of what you get versus the nominal price. I used to just hit print screen, save an image, bring it into Paint Shop Pro, make the needed modifications and resave the image. But it took me several minutes per shot. Now I can capture good screen shots the way I need, with borders, resized, with annotations, text, highlight shading or dozens of other enhancements, in seconds. It makes creating manuals, web pages, tutorials, or just keeping shots of images I see on the web, so much easier. And when I say a good screen shot, I mean that. As an editor, I see a lot of screen shots. In the near future, I plan to write an article providing tips about what makes a good screen shot and why good shots can make or break your article or document. Not only is SnagIt easy to use, but it's full of impressive features. SnagIt is developed by Techsmith (creators of Camtasia) and you can download a free trial version. The trial version works without limitations for a period of 30 days. If you decide to purchase it after, it costs about $40. Looking back, I don't know how I survived without my friend Mr. SnagIt. He has increased my productivity and added impressive images to emails and ppt slides. I'd recommend trying it for yourself!
