Historically career inventories have measured the extent to which your interests are similar to the interests of people in a particular career or profession. The problem is that while you may have similar interests as those in the construction industry, you may have little or no desire to do what someone in the construction industry does. When people think of health, they tend to think of physical and emotional health. Energy, vitality, healthy eating, exercise, etc. are all very important things and something that I've been integrating into my leadership work with execs for years. But there's also the "organizational health" --- the health of the whole organization.

A couple of weeks ago there was an article in the newspaper about the toll entrepreneurship take on relationships. It is hard for entrepreneurs to balance everything. I was glad to see the press giving attention to the soft stuff because this is often what I notice that gets disregarded or put off as it is not linked to numbers and bottom line results.

What does it mean to be a hero in your life? Everyone has their personal stand for what they believe makes a hero. No matter what our personal definition of “hero” is, we all have the opportunity to be the hero of our own lives. Sometimes it takes a bit of an awakening and sometimes it’s just connecting with and “owning” that hero inside us…Whatever the case, we know when we are being a hero in our own life.
